Ludwigsburg Venetian Festival
Venezianische Messe Ludwigsburg
September 6 - 8, 2024 | Free admission
Every two years, Ludwigsburg morphs into the Venice Carnival for three fun-filled days. Think 18th-century gowns and capes, masks, fans, and hats; artists and musicians from all over Europe; concerts and shows galore! Best of all, you, too, can join in the fun. With or without a mask!
That’s entertainment!
Wearing mysterious masks and elaborate costumes, 2,000 artists present a spectacular array of entertainment, from acrobatics, stilt walking and fire juggling to music, drama, comedy, dance and singing. These top-class national and international artists perform across 10 stages; there is plenty of room and everyone can enjoy the entertainment. (The Market Square is cordoned off; tickets are required to enter.)
For many, the highlight of the Venezianische Messe is the Parade of the Performers from Ludwigsburg Palace to the Market Square. This is the curtain raiser, the prelude to three days of non-stop fun. Dressed in extravagant and spectacular costumes, the entertainers parade across a gondola bridge: a magic moment that transports you back to 18th-century Venice.
Families love the Venezianische Messe, as there is so much for little ones to see and do – from face painting to a fun fair and even a playground with a shipwreck and a real pirate! Another highlight is the arts and crafts market, a showcase for the work of artists from all over Europe.
