When it comes to pumpkins, Ludwigsburg rules! From August to December, the grounds of the Palace host the world's largest pumpkin exhibition, part of Baroque in Bloom Palace Gardens (Blühendes Barock), a vast horticultural show with a different theme each year. Think 450,000 pumpkins and 600 varieties. There are aromatic edible pumpkins and ornamental pumpkins, elaborately-carved pumpkin sculptures and delicious pumpkin-based dishes, such as soup, waffles and local favorite Maultaschen, a dish like ravioli.
